Virtual Reality
VR, an abbreviation stemming from the words Virtual Reality, is one of the latest advances in gaming technology that multiple companies seem to be competing for the next generation
gaming experience.
The VR headset has a close-to-the-eye dual screen set-up for each eye that you wear like a pair of bulky goggles transporting you to a realistic-feeling 3D environment. It does this by simulating a 3D game environment with the addition of sensors in the helmet to detect head motions enabling you to look around in a 3D space. It's an immersive experience that's still quite young in its development stage. Personally, I compare it to a PS1 to PS2 (PlayStation 1, 2) in terms of the in-game atmosphere. But the VR technology itself is next level (no pun intended) and is helping push the boundaries of technology, as gaming is known for.
To interact or move in the world of VR, you need to use a hand controller for each hand, which enables realistic hand movements and gestures with its sensors. But interaction themselves require remote input by the controllers.
Walking on the other hand is limited in terms of sensory movement, and requires a manual input with an analogue stick, as it is with a usual PS5 controller.
